Course summary

Overview

You may be exempt from some subjects if you have a relevant degree or have studied another professional accounting qualification. Prospective students MUST confirm any exemption entitlement with ATI at BEFORE coming to enrol.

This is a one year Level 4 Certificate programme which is both a standalone qualification AND also the compulsory Entry/1st year of the Level 5 Diploma programme (which itself is a 2 year programme with a separate second year enrolment.

Please note that the Certificate and Diploma as outlined above can be gained by completing and passing the above-mentioned courses. If a student wishes to become a full member of ATI they must also have complete 2 years (3,360 hours) of relevant work experience which can be completed before, during, or after study.

Syllabus
This accounting certificate is awarded on successful completing of the 4 modules listed over one year. This combination of subjects is specifically designed to provide students with a solid grounding in business as well as a strong foundation in accountancy.

Students must successfully complete (or be exempt from) at least 3 Level 4 subjects to be able to progress to Level 5 Diploma and must include both Financial Accounting 1 and Taxation 1.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment of the ATI Level 4 Certificate is by external exams arranged by students directly with ATI. There are 4 exams, one for each subject. Alongside this there is a Work Practice module consisting of 2 work-based tasks to be completed within a workplace environment. BMC offer a linear programme of study and prepare students for the May exam sitting each year.

Career Prospects

Accounting Technicians are qualified accounting professionals that work at all levels of finance. They can work in all types of organisations and are widely employed throughout the public sector, industry and commerce and in private accounting practices.
