The Economics with International Relations degree is a major/minor programme, meaning that you will spend two-thirds of your time studying Economics with the Aberystwyth Business School, and one-third studying Politics in the Department of International Politics.In choosing to study Economics with International Relations Degree at Aberystwyth University you will be part of departments that make world-leading contributions to research and practice, and which have excellent partnerships with companies in business, politics and commerce. Through your Economics with Politics Degree you will focus on the principles of economics and the study of choices and their implications made by individuals, companies and governments when faced with scarce resources. In addition to the core subject knowledge and key skills specific to the discipline, a varied range of teaching styles and practical exercises will equip you with generic skills in research, analysis, reporting and practice - powerful tools with which to pursue your chosen career.The Economics with International Relations degree focuses on a wide range of issues impacting on every-day life including the creation of employment, inflationary pressures, international trade issues, the process of business competition, innovation and growth, the development of third world countries, the protection of natural resources and government policy-making. All complimented by an understanding of the political land scape, key players and drivers for core policy decisions.

In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) assessment the university was placed in the top 50 institutions for research power and intensity.
