About the course

The course is delivered at University Centre Myerscough and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire. The course provides a management-focused golf programme and is designed to develop awareness and ability in corporate management, giving students the skills and confidence necessary to manage others in the golf industry.

The modules studied allow for the analysis of management issues underpinning golf. An ethos of career planning and development runs through the curriculum, in order to develop employability and prepare students for a successful career in the UK or overseas. A Golf Management Project is also included, enabling students to produce a detailed piece of academic research relating to the golf industry.

The course is designed to enable successful students to analyse key academic themes and critically evaluate the wide range of management issues within different sectors of the golf industry.

Learning Environment:

Learning activities on the course are diverse, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical sessions and workshops.

Students are expected to undertake extensive independent study and research to support lectures, seminars and assessments. Group work and group presentations form an important part of the course. Students will have access to specialist IT hardware and software, an on-line learning environment and reference facility.

Assessment:

Students will complete a variety of assessments including examinations and tests, practical assessments, essays, presentations, reports and group work.

Careers

The course aims to provide a programme of golf management education which will enable degree holders to analyse key academic themes in the subject area and critically evaluate the wide range of management issues within different sectors of the Golf Industry, which will therefore prepare them for a successful career in the UK or overseas. The course promotes an ethos of self-development and reflection throughout the curriculum in order to foster that greater personal awareness and confidence necessary to manage others. The course is designed with the intention that its graduates will be able to function effectively at a managerial level within the Golf Industry. Modular content emphasises the importance of career development and planning throughout.
