Would you like to explore modern languages at university but didn't get a chance to study languages at A-level or an equivalent qualification? Then this degree course is for you.This interdisciplinary degree course offers you a combination of modules in ethnography, cultural studies, sociolinguistics, and digital and non-digital communication, which will help you to tackle today's challenges in language, culture and communication.You can choose to study 1 or 2 languages from scratch – including Chinese, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Japanese and Russian.If you’re an international student who fulfils the English Language requirements of the university, you can also opt to take English Language stages as one of your languages to become even more proficient in English.You can undertake a professional project as an alternative to the traditional dissertation in your final year: This will allow you to work with businesses and charities on a project around language, culture and communication and gain valuable employability skills and networks outside university that are so important for your future career.Your career opportunities include working in education, language teaching, information technology, management, the mass media, creative arts, social work, counselling, and more!
