Course summary

Space Science is the study of all planetary systems. Applications range from Earth observation satellites providing data on anthropogenic climate change, to space exploration missions and analyses of extraterrestrial materials that seek to answer the question: is there life elsewhere in the Galaxy? The UK Space Agency has identified substantial skills gaps in the current UK space sector. Our programme will prepare you to fill critical vacancies in space services and space agencies worldwide. We are field leaders across space science disciplines with strong industrial links. As such this course will deliver an out of this world learning experience that prepares students for a career in the space sector.

Why this programme

This is a unique Masters programme, situated in Glasgow, the beating heart of the UK Space Sector.
The programme is multidisciplinary combining Planetary Science, Engineering and Physics courses.
This is a skills-based MSc aligned with current and future UK Space Agency skills gaps.
You will benefit from featured guest lectures from the space industry as part of the programme.
There is an opportunity for placements with industry partners and student-tailored research dissertations.
You will undertake fieldwork and gain practical experience including the opportunity to explore a European Impact structure.

This MSc will prepare graduates to fulfil lucrative vacancies in space services and space agencies worldwide. Possible career paths include, but are not limited to:​

Remote Sensing of Earth or other planetary bodies
Space services processing and investigating downlink satellite data
Extraterrestrial Geology/Geochemistry
Engineering, including orbital dynamics and space mission design
Policy and planning at international space agencies
Further education (PhD) in any of the above.
