Course summary
Inequalities in health relating to poverty, deprivation or other social characteristics are major themes in research and policy debates in both developed and developing countries. This unique MSc at UCL is designed to respond to the need for trained health professionals, researchers, and policymakers in the field of social epidemiology. Through the MSc Social Epidemiology programme you will gain knowledge of the various approaches to social epidemiology, develop relevant skills in study design and statistical analysis, and explore the link between social environment and health, alongside a broad perspective on the social determinants of health and an ability to advocate research and policy measures in the field. The programme equips high achieving graduates from a broad range of disciplines from social sciences, medicine, and biology to statistics, as well as health professionals, with the skills necessary to contribute to the understanding and working to alleviate the burden of ill health caused by poverty, inequalities and deprivation.
