Open days at SOAS University of London
SOAS is a small and welcoming campus in London, one of the best student cities in the world. The university is known for its unique courses relating to Asia, Africa, the Near East, and the Middle East. It is made up of three faculties including art and humanities, language and culture and law and social sciences.
SOAS aims to challenges perspectives, broach debate, and empower students to find solutions to the issues facing the world today. It gives students access to career services with internships, work experience, CV and interview prep, employability events, and a worldwide alumni network.
Facilities
SOAS university library covers six floors with over 1,000 workspaces and is one of five National Research Libraries in the UK. It's also considered one of the world's most important academic libraries for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
There's a bookshop, gym and a range of wellbeing services on campus.
Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
SOAS University of London has one campus in the Bloomsbury area of central London. As you would expect for a capital city, it is quite easy to get to by public transport.
London has a rich history and is home to many iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London. The campus is within walking distance of the West End and iconic attractions including the British Museum, the British Library, and Regent's Park.
With over 100 museums, major art galleries, many theatres and a multitude of festivals each year, there's always something to do. London is also a very green city with over 3000 parks.
